Diggin’ Them DWG’s
I recently installed the trial version of the DWG IFilter 2007 from DWGIFilter.com on our local MOSS 2007 deployment. I have to say, it works really well. For example now we can upload all the old DWG’s to MOSS and search by someone’s initials and see what they drew.
No problems there. The preview is a little weird, but all that really matters is the text gets extracted and indexed.

Following the directions on the DWG site to add the icon, here is what the search results look like:

We also have a note on how to add the DWG Icon to MOSS/WSS SharePoint, with the icon files included. Read more at our http://www.dwgifilter.com/SupportPages
Additionally, you would need to add the DWG Icon to the search results- we will work on getting a support page for that too.
Expect to find more DWG-and-SharePoint goodies later…

Actually I found that following your directions to add the icon added it to the search page too… see update above.
